My rose is jasmine
Nearly every day, my spouse and I connect about our day by asking each other to share "a rose and a thorn." This webpage has a simple and visually pleasing explanation of the Rose, Bud, Thorn exercise.
Perhaps surprisingly, some days it can be hard to quiet the mental chatter and distill all the happenings in real time. Nevertheless, it's an activity I look forward to, and I enjoy the "challenge" of choosing what to share and what to offload from my mental bandwidth.
While out walking last night, I was overcome by the intoxicating scent of night-blooming jasmine. We're fortunate to have quite a bit of it around our neighborhood, and it unfailingly lifts my mood. After a long, exaggerated inhale/sniff, I pulled out my phone and texted my spouse: "It turns out my rose is jasmine."
